Assembly Hall Theatre announces new season to complete programming for 2019
The new season sees a wide range of choice on offer for all our genres including dance, tributes, classical, comedy and family.
Director of Assembly Hall Theatre, JJ Almond, said: ‘We have a whole host of genres coming to the Assembly Hall this autumn with something for everyone. If you like dance, then come and see Russian State Ballet’s The Nutcracker. Like comedy? Rhod Gilbert returns by popular demand with a second sell out show. Royal Tunbridge Wells Symphony Orchestra will present two incredible classical concerts and of course I can’t wait for this year’s panto, Peter Pan. With a star cast and amazing fabulous special effects, it is going to be our best ever. All of this followed by some traditional drama with The Mousetrap that will bring excitement and mystery to our programme next year. We also remain enlivened with the prospect of a new theatre that will allow us to provide a programme that is increasingly diverse, exciting and commercial.’
To add to the highlights, Ben Elton comes for his first stand up show in 20 years and An Evening With Lenny Henry will show a personal look at the man and the comedy. Kevin Bloody Wilson will be giving us laughs and tunes. One Night Of Queen brings celebration, Fastlove will bring the singalong and Respect, The Simon & Garfunkel Story and Get Ready will all be incredible tributes to amazing artists.
There is so much on offer for families and kids too with Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians perfect for families, schools and groups and we’re also pleased to welcome back TWODS with its musical production of Made In Dagenham.
The theatre is continuing to work with some of the incredible institutions in the area with its Heritage Open Days offering a full behind the scenes tour of the Theatre and it will also be showcasing the new show from the Tunbridge Wells Puppetry Festival.
And of course, the panto arrives this December with the swashbuckling adventure Peter Pan starring Lloyd Warbey, Quinn Patrick, Paul Bradley and Holly Atterton. Meet Peter and the lost boys, Tiger Lily and Tinker Bell and get ready for a family show full of fun, fairy dust and pirates galore. Set sail for Neverland and take on Captain Hook and prepare for out of this world flying effects, galleons of laughter and the hungriest of crocodiles. Suitable for young ones (and those who never want to grow up), this festive extravaganza is on sale now so hook your seats today for Tunbridge Wells’ must see Christmas show in 2019. There will also be STEM workshops and behind the scenes tours available and signed and relaxed performances are also now on sale.
