Easter Fun at the Spa Valley Railway

Visit the Spa Valley Railway this Easter to find the eggs around the line! After spotting all the eggs, children can ask for a yummy chocolate reward to enjoy on the way home.

The railway will be operating a two train timetable over Easter with two steam engines and one heritage diesel in action. Standard fares apply throughout the Easter period with a family ticket being just £28 when booked in advance online (£30 on the day). Tickets are also valid for unlimited travel on the day of your visit.

Families can enjoy additional activities in the Easter holidays at Tunbridge Wells West Station (next to Sainsbury’s car park in the town) including face painting, arts and crafts a model railway and a miniature cinema. The engine shed will also be open to view locomotive and carriages undergoing restoration.

With tickets being valid for all day travel, passengers can choose to visit any of the destinations along the line.

At Eridge passengers can pick up the Tunbridge Wells Circular Walking route to explore the area including nearby Harrisons Rocks.

Groombridge is the railway’s principle intermediate station and is known as the sunniest spot on the railway! Alight here to see the restored Old Station Building and watch the trains crossing over. Why not enjoy a snack or drink at the station while remembering a bygone era. As well as the play park in Groombridge perhaps consider a visit to Burrswood or Groombridge Place. Burrswood has a café and leaflets in reception detailing four different local walks.

High Rocks is the smallest and most picturesque station on the line. It was built from scratch and opened in 1998 following the closure of the original halt in the 1950s.

High Rocks Halt is set in the tranquil gardens of the High Rocks Inn. This is an ideal place to sit and watch the trains go by whilst enjoying a drink in the landscaped gardens. Look up and you will see the majestic High Rocks themselves which date back millions of years. Adults only are allowed into the monument itself and tickets can be purchased at the attraction.
