Ancient Egyptian Day at Chiddingstone Castle

A celebration of Ancient Egypt for all the family set throughout Chiddingstone Castle on Sunday 5 August 2018 between 11 am and 4.30 pm.

Spend the day learning about the mysteries of Ancient Egypt and take a tour to see all the fascinating collections displayed inside the castle.

Become a ‘junior archaeologist’ when you explore the Fields of Eternity in the castle grounds.

Handle 3000 year old objects when you take part in a handling session with Tom Hardwick who is the curator of the Hall of Egypt at HMNS (Houston Museum of Natural Science), where some of the Castle’s artefacts are currently on display.

Listen to a family friendly talk on Egyptian gods and goddesses by Mick Oakey, vice chairman of the Sussex Egyptology Society.

Dr John Baines, professor emeritus, Egyptology at Oxford University will deliver a more advanced talk on Ancient Egyptian artefacts.

Admission to the event which is suitable for all ages will be: adults £10.00, child £5.00, family (2+2) £26.
